So, you ask, what else could possibly be new at Aunt Betsy's Chicken farm?

How about another beacon of of our commitment to energy conservation, a brand new grid-tie solar system!!

Below are images showing how a grid-tie solar system is installed.

First, we layout the basic structure on the ground and dig a trench for the electricial wiring.

Then, we screw the augers into the ground so our array can't blow away when its windy.

Here, we attach the first support rails to the augers.

And, like an erector set, we put all the framework pieces together.

Here we install the Micro-inverters which control the amount of power that each panel produces and then sends to the grid.

Now we begin to attach each solar panel to the framework.

This image shows the the simplicity of how all the panels are connected together.

A close -up of how the Micro-inverters are connected. (They are the little silver boxes)

Shown Below are some pics of Life on our Poultry Farm  !!!

On our farm just as in nature, eggs vary GREATLY in size.

We welcomed our first incubated baby to the farm on Saturday, February 13, 2010

On Sunday we received our special Valentines day gift of baby chick #2

These boys are one month old as of February 18, 2010

These boys really enjoy sunning themselves beneath the heat lamps while we get ten inches of snow!!
